Kamurai Kavhu lives and works in Tengenenge Sculpture Village in Mvurwi, Zimbabwe. She often focuses on familial themes, drawing from her own experience as a mother and daughter. Kamurai was also a participant in the Simukai Fellowship. This sculpture, "mother and child," was carved from Springstone mined in Tengenenge's artisanal sculpture mine, and created on order from Gunguo Sculpture Farm during the COVID-19 pandemic.
